gamescom 2017 - The Highlights of the fair

The break was yesterday, and yesterday is over! Game Two is back from its summer vacation. And that directly with a full gamescom special from the mega fair in Cologne. Look forward to Super Mario Odyssey, The Evil Within 2 and Monster World. In addition, we take a closer look at the eternal kicker rivals FIFA and Pro Evolution Soccer in their respective latest installments. Wolfenstein 2, Detroit: Become Human & Kingdom Come: Deliverance are of course also included, just like our overview of the most exciting indie games of the near future.

Episode 2

Middle-earth: Shadow of War, Anno 1800, Yakuza 6

The gamescom in Cologne is over. But the Game-Two crew was so busy that a second show with trade fair highlights came out - and it's extra-extra long! Not only blockbuster contenders like "Assassin's Creed: Origins", "Forza 7" or "Anno 1800" are included. Potential little gems like "Crossing Souls", "Sonic Forces" or "The Swords of Ditto" have also found their way into the show. And as a cherry on the pizza, there's our gamescom A(w)kwards 2017: Our editorial team has tracked down the most award-worthy games of the trade fair and honored them in very special categories.

Mario+Rabbids, Uncharted, Hellblade, Starcraft, Nidhogg 2

Sofia & Simon, our dynamic dynamite duo, ignite a games rocket of the finest today: In the Switch-exclusive action tactician MARIO+RABBIDS: KINGDOM BATTLE, the moustache and the long-eared team up to explore previously unknown galaxies of gaming fun. The upcoming Christmas business is already casting its shadow, so Sofia and Lara will be serving up some really fat Polygon gems in September. Let's start with "Destiny 2" - Ballerboy Trant reveals whether the second part can finally deliver what the first promised. Christoph, meanwhile, has picked up the 3DS remake of the Game Boy classic "Metroid: Samus Returns" - how well has the reinterpretation of the old-school adventure turned out? Last but not least, the intrepid Micha plunges death-defyingly into the world of "Knack 2". The predecessor wasn't all that good, has the sequel learned its lesson? Cutting sleds and wedging battle colossi! The new episode Game Two stands with its name for profound topics and does not shy away from difficult questions. For example, "How much car porn does a current racing game need?" With the question posed, it's clear that only sexy boxing slut Micha can provide the right answers. And since Marvel vs. Capcom features powerhouse super dudes punching each other in the jaw, our very own super dude Tim had to get in on the action. We have spared no expense and overtime to dissect even the thickest gaming hunks in detail for you and to check their qualities. Tim picked up SUPER MARIO ODYSSEY and checks whether Nintendo's holiest cow lives up to the usual praise on the Switch. Meanwhile, Sebastian faces the horrors of THE EVIL WITHIN 2 - can the sequel finally deliver what the predecessor only promised? And lead-foot boy Trant wasn't lazy either: The PS pro examines the eternal rivals GRAN TURISMO and FORZA and reveals which current series representative is better suited for which racing mind. Sebastian, on the other hand, goes into reverse and travels back to his youth. SHADOW HEARTS: COVENANT was a highlight in the JRPG monotony for the blond bearded man. Christoph followed in Schröck's footsteps to understand his fascination for CALL OF DUTY in the newest part WWII. He tells you himself whether our brave warrior returned from the battlefields of World War II full of knowledge and in one piece. NEED FOR SPEED PAYBACK, on the other hand, landed on a different desk - Markus checks whether the arcade-oriented counter-design to GRAN TURISMO & Co is just loud or whether it's also fun. Last but not least, guest editor Hauke goes in search of his favorite genre, MMORPGs. Where have they gone? Are they still there? Or were they never gone? We'll enlighten you!

With the lootbox policy for BATTLEFRONT 2, manufacturer Electronic Arts has sparked a shitstorm of epic proportions. Tim looks at the facts behind the heated discussion and examines whether there might be a viable STAR WARS game underneath all the layers of shitstorm. Meanwhile, Sebastian looks at Nintendo's successful Switch console and asks why the portable console is becoming an attractive gaming platform for more and more developers. Last but not least, we take a look at the upcoming games month: Which titles should you sneak onto your gift table just before the holidays?

It's hard to believe, but the Japanese pocket monsters are already 20 years old. On the occasion of the release of POKEMON ULTRASONNE & ULTRAMOND, Markus reminisces about the indestructible success story behind Pikachu, Karpador and Co. In terms of Japanese role-playing games, things get really interesting just before Christmas: XENOBLADE CHRONICLES 2 wants to prove that it outshines its celebrated predecessors on the Switch - Trant puts the RPG to the test. Accordingly, on the occasion of the add-on HEUBERGUNG for the LANDWIRTS-SIMULATOR 2017, Sebastian asked around in the iron fan scene about the reasons for the fascination. Michael, Trant and Colin dedicate themselves to GOLD RUSH: THE GAME, AMERICAN TRUCK SIMULATOR as well as VIRTUAL RIDES 3: FAHRGESCHÄFT SIMULATOR in a hard-hitting self-experiment.
