Howard the Cat comes over to visit Jinks and they reminisce how fun it was back in the old days chasing mice, so they go after Pixie and Dixie. Pixie and Dixie make believe by convincing Jinks that Howard is bad luck since he's a black cat and they make accidents happen to Jinks.
Jinks has inherited from Mrs. Smithers an old mansion and moves there, leaving Pixie and Dixie behind. The two mice make the place haunted to scare Jinks into going back home.
When the neighborhood's head cat, Gus and his hench-cats think Jinks has been getting chummy with Pixie and Dixie, he tells Jinks to get more meaner and tougher on them and rough them up; Pixie and Dixie's cousin comes for a visit and poses as Pixie and roughs up on Jinks.
Jinks is fed up when Pixie and Dixie left their mouse hole without his permission, so he gets a idea to send them away. He promises them a fun ride for themselves, but instead he tricks Pixie and Dixie for the ride and he sends them away flying through the city in a basket stringed up to a balloon and they get mistaken for creatures in a flying saucer.
